The Google Ad Grant gives qualifying 501(c)(3) nonprofits $10,000 each month in free Google Search ad credit. It runs on the same auction as paid ads, with no cost to the organization.

The grant comes with specific rules: a minimum 5% click-through rate, restrictions on broad or single-word keywords, mandatory conversion tracking, and an annual program survey. Accounts that fall out of compliance can be paused — most teams only learn there's a problem when their traffic drops.

The 5% CTR rule
Google requires a 5% click-through rate, sustained over time. Accounts that fall below it for two consecutive months can be suspended. Many teams are unaware of the threshold until the notification arrives.
Limited conversion tracking
Without conversion tracking properly configured, Google's machine learning has nothing to optimize toward, and the daily budget often gets spent on clicks that don't become donors, volunteers, or signups.
